Saturday, January 18th and The Devout arrived at The Cluny in Newcastle. This was our first headline show, and one that had also been our first sell out. This was a very exciting time for all involved.

Filled with excitement at the prospect of kicking off our 2020 headline shows we arrived to a warm welcome from the lovely staff and management at The Cluny.

The setup and sound check got underway and we were impressed with both the venue itself and the sound we were going to achieve. We knew this was going to be one amazing evening, as we all took turns to feel the bass thump at the back of the venue.

We retired to our dressing room to have a bit of a sit-down, food and to get ready for the evenings festivities. As show-time approached we could see the venue fill with 200+ Depeche hungry Geordies.

An energy buzzed through the band feeding us with even more adrenaline, our focus centred on delivering a great show.

As soon as the opening tones of ‘Christmas Island’ pervaded the air, the crowd went crazy. They were ready, we were ready, showtime…..

The Devout

We sizzled through a 21 song-strong set and the audience matched the energy with each track. Singing back loud and proud and raising the roof of the Cluny.

As the crescendo of ‘Never Let Me Down Again’ filled the Cluny, we knew a great show had been delivered with the amazing sight of the infamous corn row wave of arms. This was renditioned brilliantly by the jubilant Newcastle audience.

Well. What can we say. We had an utterly phenomenal time yesterday at The Cluny. The crowd were amazing from the first note and did not rest until the show ended. We are proud and humbled by the comments we have received and can’t wait until we get to come back to this wonderful city. ❤️❤️⚫️⚪️⚫️❤️❤️Our next show is on 8th February where we travel to the fantastic THE FLOWERPOT. The Geordies have set the bar quite high already Derby. Let’s see what you got. 📣📣📣😎😎😎📣📣📣
